When Getting to the Doctor Is Half the Battle

Thomas Hainze is 84 years old and lives alone with his dog Earl in Farmers Branch, Texas. He says he is in "pretty good health with a positive attitude" despite a recent problem with anemia, and he's pleased with the health care he receives from a team of physicians. But he doesn't pick up the phone to make appointments with any of them. Surgery for laryngeal cancer in 2000 left Hainze without a voice.
