Veneta Masson, RN is a nurse and poet living in Washington, DC. She has written three books of essays and poems, drawing on her experiences over thirty years as a family nurse practitioner and director of an inner-city clinic.' Veneta's decision to stop having screening mammograms, even after her sister died of breast cancer, was recently shared in the Washington Post after originally appearing in Health Affairs.
