Center for Advancing Health Announces Two New Awards to Honor Jessie Gruman
The Board of Trustees of the Center for Advancing Health (CFAH) is pleased to announce that two new awards honoring the late Jessie Gruman’s exemplary leadership in the field of patient engagement have been established at the following distinguished organizations: the Society for Public Health Education, Inc. and the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship. A third organization, the Society of Behavioral Medicine (SBM), received additional funding from CFAH to extend its Jessie Gruman Award for Health Engagement, which was established in 2014...Patient Engagement – We Have Become Our Parent
Jessie defined patient engagement as "the actions we take to support our health and to benefit from health care." As I reflect on this, I see that we have come to a crossroads. Jessie can no longer lead us and the organization she formed, CFAH, will soon cease. The Center for Advancing Health's board of trustees and staff hosted a reception this past Thursday, October 9, in honor of Jessie Gruman, CFAH's founder and president until her death on July 14. Speakers included colleagues, family members and guests.
