Politics and the Washington scene are humming again after a holiday break, but the renewed activity this January hasn’t always boded well for the cause of good health. As you will see below, political considerations are again battling with scientific evidence in important areas like the obesity epidemic and health disparities.

Yet this issue also demonstrates that practitioners and researchers like you are still making important progress at the community level, at the university and in online ventures. We hope you’ll take note of — and take heart from — these stories as well.
