May 20, 2010 National Press Club Briefing and Discussion:
The focus of US health care reform on cost, quality and access obscures an equally important but largely unexamined concern: the growing number of responsibilities that each of us — sick or well — must perform competently if we are to benefit from the care available to us or to loved ones on whose behalf we are acting.
The Center for Advancing Health presented an analysis of Americans’ engagement in our health care based on responses to questions from more than 20 surveys supported by the federal government and private foundations and organizations.
This report outlines the size of the challenge ahead, describes emerging behavioral patterns and suggests some practical next steps.
