CFAH Announces New Name, New Website
The Center for Advancing Health Changes its Name toThe Center for Advancing Health and Releases New Website
"Advances in scientific knowledge can only increase health and quality of life if people make informed decisions about their health care, change life-long habits and manage complicated medical regimens," said Jessie Gruman, PhD, president of the Center for Advancing Health. "The largely ignored but critical role of individuals in the success of their health care is the focus of the Center for Advancing Health."
New Web 2.0 Features Include Streaming Video, Ability to Post to Facebook, and Other Innovative Technologies
The Center has improved the utility and function of its website, www.cfah.org, to support its new focus. The refreshed website is easier to navigate and offers enhanced features for sharing articles and resources, including the ability to post them to Facebook. Information on events and new research, such as the "Getting Tools Used" project and the Kellogg Health Scholars Program are easier to access. Health industry experts can request speakers for their events and media will find a list of content experts provided for interview sources. The website continues to offer news stories on the latest research for health journalists in the Health Behavior News Service section.
"When Dr. Gruman's book, AfterShock, was released, it received a great deal of attention from people in need of information about how to use and navigate the health care system," said Douglas Kamerow, MD, MPH, chief scientist for health, social and economics research at Research Triangle Institute, and Chair of the CFAH Board of Trustees. "To meet that need, the Center has refreshed its website so that people have better access to sound health information, physicians can learn how to engage their patients, and journalists can use the latest health research news. The new web features allow these communities to share resources — literally at the touch of a button."
