The Center
for Urban Health Research provides an environment for the conduct of multidisciplinary
research on the social determinants of the health status of urban populations.
The
major themes of research projects at the Center for Urban Health Research
are:
- risk assessment for
leading causes of illness, disability and death
- effects of sociopolitical,
economic, and cultural factors on health and
quality of life of urban populations
- sociopolitical structural
changes; public health/health policy and strategies for reducing persistent
disparities
in health and quality of life
of various racial and ethnic population groups
