What Makes Us Unique?
Of course, there are many other health and wellness websites out there. What makes us different from the rest is our philosophy.
We believe that medicine should serve people — all people. Therefore, while our content is firmly rooted in facts, science, and the latest research, we always strive to make it simple and easy to read. We take complex medical information and then reword it in a way that anyone can understand.
Why Trust Us?
We have been around for over 20 years. During that time, we have assembled a team of more than 100 writers who create all our content, including:
- Board-certified doctors
- Credentialed dietitians
- Licensed therapists
- Industry experts
- Patient advocates
What’s more, we choose our writers based not only on their knowledge but also on their real-world experience working with patients, clients, and students. We also only work with writers who can express complex information in a clear and helpful way.
You can learn more about our editorial policies as well as our commitment to diversity and anti-racism.
We only work with fact-checkers who have a proven track record in journalism and health and medical topics. They review, research, and double-check every single statement or fact on CFAH to ensure that our articles are 100% accurate and up to date.
Our Medical Board
Every single piece we publish is vetted by our Medical Review Board of certified physicians. They make sure that our content is medically sound and reflects the latest research.
Nina Julia (B.Sc.Ed.) – Founder, Chief Editor
- Bachelor of Science Education (B.Sc.Ed.) — New York State University
- Master of Science in Early Childhood Education — Mercy College (New York)
Nina created CFAH.org following the birth of her second child. She was a science and math teacher for 6 years prior to becoming a parent — teaching in schools in White Plains, New York and later in Paterson, New Jersey.
Nina writes, curates, and edits insights on the topic of pregnancy, fertility, and parenting. Her goal is to share the knowledge she’s accumulated over the years while raising her two young children. She aims to help new and expecting parents navigate the challenges and complexities of parenthood.
Livvy Ashton (RN, CNM) – Senior Editor
- Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) — New York University
- Masters Degree of Nurse Midwifery — New York University Rory Meyers College of Nursing Nurse-Midwifery Program
Livvy is a registered nurse (RN) and board-certified nurse midwife (CNM) in the state of New Jersey. After giving birth to her newborn daughter, Livvy stepped down from her full-time position at the Children’s Hospital of New Jersey to care for her newborn. This also gave her the opportunity to spend more time with her second passion — writing health and lifestyle articles on all topics related to pregnancy and prenatal care.
She shares her knowledge on pre and postnatal care, breastfeeding, and early parenthood through her writing at CFAH.org and other pregnancy-related online blogs. Livvy is also working on a book for expecting parents which she aims to publish sometime in early 2020.
